Important Note: Gamma Settings

Different platforms and devices use a different base gamma. Gamma is a measure of contrast in an image, typically in the midrange grays (mid-tones). The higher the gamma, the darker the tone. For example, Mac OS use a gamma base value of 1.8 and Windows use a gamma base value that varies around 2.2. The result of this difference is that images look darker on Windows than on Mac OS.

Most image editing programs come with a gamma control panel which lets you adjust your monitor’s gamma. This means you can simulate the way an image will appear on different platforms. Furthermore, you can use Document Color Profile or Use Embedded Color Profile Adjusts the gamma to match any attached document colour profile in a color-managed document.
